These murals were completed for Netflix's Production Studios in Brooklyn, NY in September of 2021. Gensler designed the murals to showcase some of Netflix's most popular original series: Pretend It’s a City with Fran Lebowitz, Russian Doll with Natasha Lyonne and She’s Gotta Have It with DeWanda Wise. The Novo Arts team used projectors to sketch the designs, and then constructed the murals on top of those outlines. The mural featuring Lebowitz, Lyonne and Wise, is composed entirely of black and red gaffer’s tape, to pay homage to its frequent use and vital necessity in the world of film production. The other mural references the famous Netflix logo that appears on screen before any viewing and is dual textured: composed of a full sheet of colored vinyl underneath black gaffer’s tape.
